When I first started collecting almost 7 years ago, James Daschbach was one of favorite artists. His work is always flawless and so well executed, with lots
of really cool designs. After I'd been collecting a couple of years, he sort of dropped off of the marble scene, and only sold a few of his jellyfish and
other simpler designs here and there on eBay. I started seeing him in Tucson at the Best Bead Show the past few years in February, but it was the same thing,
not many marbles to choose from. All the while though, he was still cranking out killer beads and pendants, with his usual sweet style.
Well, several months ago, along with the help of The Gongsta, I was finally able to talk Jim into making some more marbles - and he made some beauts!! I was SO excited he finally decided to do it! Here is one of them, nice and big at about 2 1/2", which I like to call "Interstellar Artifact". Jim basically encased a 'milli plate' and then added some of his revolving space lines to the design. The milli plate totally reminds me of something like a chunk from an alien spacecraft or some other alien gizmo. I don't know how many of you were fans of the show "X Files", but in one episode, Mulder and Scully found a piece or pieces of an alien spacecraft, and this marble takes me back to my X Files days (yeah, I own all 9 seasons on DVD, heh). Check it out:
